Nukes:  The balance of terror
Hameed Abdul Karim

Behind all the war rhetoric emanating from the Western powers the one that is drilled into the minds of an already brainwashed people is that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb. For this we have to believe the very same liars who told us Saddam Hussein had WMDs. Assuming the West is speaking the truth for once, then world sympathy should be with Iran.

Mahmoud Ahmedinejad
George Bush
Benyamin Netanyahu
You got to give credit to Benyamin Netanyahu. He is a fantastic actor and might put to shame some of the best that Hollywood can offer. He proved his mettle at the UN when he berated the hostage audience, comprising mainly the US and the UK cartel - often referred to as the ‘International Community’. His grouse? That they had let Ahmedinejad speak at the august assembly.

And who is Ahmedinejad after all? A holocaust denier according to him “but there is no report” not even in the Western media - where Ahmedinejad had denied that the holocaust ever took place. But never mind. The truth does not matter.
Netanyahu went on to tick off the delegates asking them have you no shame? Have you no decency? What a disgrace. And they took it all in like schoolchildren in a kindergarten. Not a whimper in protest. These are the very heroes who tell Third World countries how to behave themselves.

No American or a European leader has ever had the guts to reprimand any Israeli leader the way the Israeli premier castigated them. Hats off to Netanyahu on that score! There was an irony in Netanyahu’s thunder as he roared about the holocaust showing blue prints of one concentration camp after another. He did not realise that the hostage audience comprised mainly of nations - like Germany “that had planned and executed the ghastly crime”.

No Palestinian or Iranian was involved in that cruelty and yet they have to pay the price for it. The Palestinians are made to pay with their land and lives for over 60 years and counting. The Iranians are threatened with military action a la Iraq and Afghanistan and Nicaragua and Chile and Vietnam and Cambodia, the list goes on.

Results of nukes cause of concern
But one would have thought the roof would come down when the Israeli Prime Minster accused the international community delegates of making a mockery of the UN charter for allowing Ahmedinejad to address the assembly. If you expected howls of laughter you would have been disappointed.
There was not even a giggle. Here was the head of a nation that has ignored numerous UN resolutions of gross human rights violations, violations of international law and of racism among other breaches of the UN charter.

Apart from this the ‘Jewish’ state has got its proxy, the US , to veto no less than 69 resolutions to shield itself from any punitive action.
And all the while Netanyahu was scolding the UN, the Israelis were working overtime to complete what they call the separation barrier.

Sadly, President Obama could only talk about the Qassam rockets the Palestinians had fired in desperation. He can’t see the barrier that former U.S President and fellow Democrat Jimmy Carter describes as the Apartheid Wall!

To make matters more embarrassing for the Israel, US and EU cartel, the UN has come up with the Gladstone report accusing the ‘Jewish-Zionist’ state of war crimes in its recent aggression in Gaza!
Long live the noble UN charter, Mr. Netanyahu?

Behind all the war rhetoric emanating from the Western powers the one that is drilled into the minds of an already brainwashed people is that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb. For this we have to believe the very same liars who told us Saddam Hussein had WMDs. Assuming the West is speaking the truth for once then world sympathy should be with Iran.

After all the very nations that accuse Iran are the ones who had dropped two Atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and used depleted uranium to kill or maim Iraqi civilians.

The US had bombed Vietnam, Laos and Kampuchea with napalm and many other chemical weapons.
Besides the US remains the only country to be found guilty of international terrorism by the World Court for its inhumane attack on Nicaragua.

Israel figures no better.

During its last aggression in Gaza the Israelis had used White Phosphorus Gas killing more than 1400 civilians and destroying the little infrastructure that the Palestinians had while the whole world watched in horror. It is very clear Israel and the Western powers are building up a case to punish Iran for daring to protect its sovereignty.

Against this backdrop, Iran has every reason to fear an attack by its enemies. And for sure Iran would have come under a US-Israeli attack during the final stages of George Bush’s tyranny if it had not been for the muscle the Iranians displayed by test firing many short and long range missiles.

If the Iranians were actually developing nuclear capability it will deter Israel from using more that its 250 nuclear warheads on Iran and the rest of the Arab world. Nukes, it seems, provide a balance of terror in the Middle-East equation.
